Immigrants played an outsized role in building and maintaining Connecticut industries in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Irish and Italian immigrants worked in a variety of industries and established culturally rich communities across Connecticut. This presentation draws on a combination of historical and archaeological data to explore the lives and experiences of immigrant populations in Connecticut, with a focus on Irish and Italian immigrant communities in the southwestern part of the state.
