The Connecticut Ancestry Society is pleased to present Portraits of Patriots: Colonel John Trumbull and Five Fellow Patriots From Connecticut in the American Revolution, a lecture based on the author’s book and research about the previously unexplored Revolutionary War experiences and contributions of the connected Trumbull and Huntington families.

The book focuses on Connecticut residents whose service and sacrifices during the Revolutionary War had them directly supporting Generals Washington, Putnam, Benedict Arnold and Horatio Gates. One of the featured men, the acclaimed artist John Trumbull, was a colonel in the Continental Army while launching his career as a painter of portraits and historical scenes. His artistically-talented sister, Faith Trumbull and her husband Brigadier General Jedediah Huntington are also profiled in the book, as are his brother, Colonel Ebenezer Huntington, John Trumbull’s brother Jonathan, and Samuel Webb of Wethersfield, all unsung heroes of the Revolution.  

Damien Cregeau is an author and historian who grew up in Fairfield County. He and his wife Pam live in a 1765 house once owned by General Jedediah Huntington. In addition to being a nationally recognized scholar of the American Revolution, he is a Revolutionary War re-enactor. He is also the president of the Connecticut Society of the American Revolution and oversees the management and operation of the society’s three 18th-century museums.
