johngrenham.com, is the second iteration of the Irish Ancestors website that Grenham developed with The Irish Times from 1998 – 2016. It was the first e-commerce Irish site. One of the most acclaimed features of the website is Grenham’s surname mapping project, which visualizes the geographic distribution of Irish surnames. By entering a surname, users can see maps based on various records, including: Griffith’s Valuation (mid-1850s); Civil registration records for births (1864–1913) and deaths (1864–1922) and The 1901 and 1911 censuses, which are invaluable for tracking the movement of specific family names over time. Grenham and his son, Eoin, continue to enhance and maintain the site.

John Grenham is a distinguished Irish genealogist, author, and developer whose work has made Irish family history research accessible to countless enthusiasts worldwide. Combining deep archival knowledge with an aptitude for digital innovation, he has created an invaluable body of work that extends far beyond his renowned reference books.
