Newspapers were the social media of your American ancestors and their news sometimes appeared outside the hometown, county, or state. Newspaper editors read each other’s papers and reprinted each other’s stories. The AP and the newspaper unions also reprinted and distributed news. A “News from Ireland” column was featured for decades in a weekly Catholic Rochester, New York newspaper.
